Severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) leads to a reduction in cardiac output and an increase in the central venous pressure, resulting in secondary organ dysfunction. Surgery for severe TR is a high-risk procedure, particularly in the presence of uncontrolled carcinoid syndrome (CS) symptoms.
